【摘要】:Aproperlydesigned,installed,anddevelopedground-watermonitoringwell,constructedinaccordancewithPracticeD5092shouldprovidethefollowing:representativesamplesofgroundwaterthatcanbeanalyzedtodeterminephysicalpropertiesandwater-qualityparametersofthesampleorpotentiometriclevelsthatarerepresentativeofthetotalhydraulicheadofthatportionoftheaquiferscreenedbythewell,orboth.Suchawellmayalsobeutilizedforconductingaquifertestsusedforthepurposeofdeterminingthehydraulicpropertiesofthegeologicmaterialsinwhichthewellhasbeencompleted.Welldevelopmentisanimportantcomponentofmonitoringwellcompletion.Monitoringwellsinstalledinaquifersshouldbesufficientlydevelopedtoensurethattheyservetheirintendedobjectives.Welldevelopmentmethodsvarywiththephysicalcharacteristicsofthegeologicformationinwhichthemonitoringwellisscreened,theconstructiondetailsofthewell,thedrillingmethodusedduringtheconstructionoftheboreholeinwhichthewellisinstalled,andthequalityofthewater.Thedevelopmentmethodforeachindividualmonitoringwellshouldbeselectedfromamongtheseveralmethodsdescribedinthisguideandshouldbeemployedbythewellconstructioncontractororthepersonresponsibleformonitoringwellcompletion.Theimportanceofwelldevelopmentinmonitoringwellscannotbeoverestimated;alltoooftendevelopmentisnotperformedoriscarriedoutinadequately.Properandcarefulwelldevelopmentwillimprovetheabilityofmostmonitoringwellstoproviderepresentative,unbiasedchemicalandhydraulicdata.Theadditionaltimeandmoneyspentperformingthisimportantstepinmonitoringwellcompletionwillminimizethepotentialfordamagingpumpingequipmentandin-situsensors,andincreasetheprobabilitythatground-watersamplesarerepresentativeofwatercontainedinthemonitoredformation.1.1Thisguidecoversthedevelopmentofscreenedwellsinstalledforthepurposeofobtainingrepresentativeground-waterinformationandwaterqualitysamplesfromgranularaquifers,thoughthemethodsdescribedhereincouldalsobeappliedtowellsusedforotherpurposes.Otherwell-developmentmethodsthatareusedexclusivelyinopen-boreholebedrockwellsarenotdescribedinthisguide.1.2Theapplicationsandlimitationsofthemethodsdescribedinthisguidearebasedontheassumptionthattheprimaryobjectiveofthemonitoringwellstowhichthemethodsareappliedistoobtainrepresentativewaterqualitysamplesfromaquifers.Screenedmonitoringwellsdevelopedusingthemethodsdescribedinthisguideshouldyieldrelativelysediment-freesamplesfromgranularaquifermaterials,rangingfromgravelstosiltysands.Whilemanymonitoringwellsareconsidered"small-diameter"wells(thatis,lessthanfourinchesininsidediameter),someofthetechniquesdescribedinthisguidewillbemoreeasilyappliedtolarge-diameterwells(thatis,four-inchesorgreaterininsidediameter).1.3Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Allotherunitsinparenthesesareprovidedforinformationonly.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.1.4Thisguideoffersanorganizedcollectionofinformationoraseriesofoptionsanddoesnotrecommendaspecificcourseofaction.Thisdocumentcannotreplaceeducationorexperienceandshouldbeusedinconjunctionwithprofessionaljudgment.Notallaspectsofthisguidemaybeapplicableinallcircumstances.ThisASTMstandardisnotintendedtorepresentorreplac......
